Shoshin Stables

Great news for all those of you who’ve requested to be able to bring your horses to me for lessons, schooling, short stay holidays, etc; I now - finally - have my own yard!

Situated in the south of Worcestershire within easy reach of Worcester, Malvern, Droitwich Spa, Bromyard and Upton-upon-Severn in peaceful surroundings, the private yard boasts the following facilities:

Spacious boxes (with rubber matting), 50m x 33m silica sand and rubber outdoor school with separate but adjoining jumping lane, 15 acres of grazing (for a max of 14 horses), secure tack room, wash bay and separate covered grooming/ tacking up area, rug drying racks and storage space for rugs, etc. There is also an onsite washer/dryer available for washing smaller items for a nominal fee.

I currently have vacancies for 1 full /part livery and also ongoing vacancies for Schooling / Rehab Livery. Also available is short-term livery; i.e. holiday, incapacity, house move, maternity, etc.

The main yard is in a U-shaped configuration facing away from the prevailing winds. The covered grooming area is seen under the clock.

I have developed - in collaboration with one of my students, Sue F. - an individually crafted tailor-made plan for bringing a horse into balance and straightness in a way that the horse clearly comprehends. The way we bring this about means the horse uses his own musculature to change his posture. He is not 'made' to  assume a fashionable outline. He understands the process and in a short time he begins to maintain the new posture away from the schooling sessions.

And, of course, I’m still available for teaching within the area - and now travelling in! I also offer short-stay intensive courses, on your own horse, in riding, complemented with off-horse balance-finding exercises, as well as in the benefits of in-hand work and flexions for the horse. There is a vareity of overnight acommodation all within easy reach of the yard - and there are some good pubs in the vicinity too! Email /phone for more details if you’re keen to visit soon!

Clean and tidy yard.

50m x33m silica sand and rubber arena - well draining.

The Japanese word shoshin is composed of the characters (Sho) meaning "first time; beginning" and (Shin) meaning "heart; mind; spirit".

Shoshin refers to a spirit of eager learning without preconceptions. This is the way to approach the study of anything new and, more importantly, the study of what one is already familiar with.
