Training from the Ground - A Special Approach

Marquis MacSwiney of Marshanaglass

HB J A Allen 1991

This book covers the teaching of young horses in-hand, preparing them for the day that they will come under saddle and rider. The book is based on the author’s personal experiences and offers a refreshing, gentle approach to the education and training of horses.

Much of the advice contained in this book can also be used in the reschooling of older horses who need to go back to basics, especially those who have been spoiled through mishandling.

CompleteTraining of Horse & Rider

Alois Podhajsky

HB The Sportman’s Press 1991

Taking a page from Xenophon ("Anything forced and misunderstood can never be beautiful"), Alois Podhajsky presents the principles and procedures of the Spanish Riding School in training horse and rider in that renowned Viennese institution, of which he was director for some twenty-five years. He moves from first mounting to the most advanced accomplishments - even airs above the ground.
