No book of riding instruction can explain riding by generalities alone. If it is to be of any value a method must be laid down.   Every detail must be explained, even at the risk of being long-winded, if the method to be described with absolute clarity.

Its been a while, but Im working on lots of articles at the moment to bring you plenty to think about in 2004.

Sitting Trot Woes is another attempt to help those of you with this favourite topic with some fresh ideas and some Balance Finding Exercises.

Ive added a Search Engine to help you find your way around a bit better. There are so many pages that are not listed in the main left-hand menu, that you may not realise just how big this site is OR that what youre looking for is actually here ... somewhere!

Are You Sitting Comfortably?     This article started out as a series of  private emails for requests for help with the seat, weight aids and lengthening the legs. It also helps riders with the mysteries of being able to sit the trot and canter.

Ive added some more photos to my Gallery of Good Riding.

Ive added an additional article to the end of the Rider Stretches page. Its about the true benefits of tailoring a stretch regime to a riders needs. I found such a programme in the PowerPosture video. I thought I was supple and flexible enough -wrong!

Before you begin the stretching, the PowerPosture programme gets you to perform 12 measurements to asses your own body against normal posture and flexibility standards.

The tape then goes into the exercises and interestingly shows not only how to perform the exercises correctly, but also demonstrates bad form too - especially important in the sit up/ab crunch exercise.

Ive tried it. I like it. If youd like to find out more, please go now to the
Rider Stretches page and read my in depth evaluation of the programme.

I am pleased to announce a new Q & A section. I get certain questions, or variations of, emailed to me on a regular basis and I think if some of you are taking the trouble to write, many more must be concerned with the same issues. If you have a question for inclusion in this section, please use the link to the form provided at the bottom of the Q & A page.
